HEALTHeLINK’s Service Offerings

As a HEALTHeLINK participant, providers have access to a variety of consulting and health information exchange services to assist them in integrating electronic medical records (EMR) into their practice and providing better access to their patients’ clinical information.

Consulting Services:
 
EMR Selection /Practice Workflow Consulting 
Offer objective consulting services for selecting an EMR system from our list of prescreened preferred EMR vendors. These services may include financial analysis, contract review and assessment for the practice’s EMR needs. Practice workflow consulting takes a critical look at the provider’s current paper processes and seeks to transform them to enhance an electronic environment. HEALTHeLINK’s consultants will also assist in developing quality measures and improving processes in preparation for more rigorous federal clinical quality improvements and patient centered medical home.
Value to providers: With the federal government now mandating practices participate in quality improvement and chronic disease outreach, HEALTHeLINK can provide assistance to a practice to navigate through the reform and comply with the new regarding electronic records and quality improvement.
 
Clinical Decision Support Implementation
Assist providers in utilizing the Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) that are available in their EMR. This includes running registries and reports, setting up alerts and reminders and implementing preventative care and disease specific modules.
Value to providers: Improved patient care in addition to providing support for Meaningful Use, patient centered medical home and PQRS reporting requirements.
 
 
HIE Services:
 
e-prescribing
The electronic prescribing application sends request from providers to both retail and mail order pharmacies. Renewals are sent to the provider’s inbox when refills expire, allowing the physician to automatically renew the script without having to call the pharmacy.
Value to providers: Qualifies for Medicare and Medicaid e-prescribing incentives. It also allows for renewals with a simple click saving time for both the provider and the patient.
 
Virtual Health Record
Allows a physician, with patient consent, to query on a patient’s name to see all clinical results available from sources connected to HEALTHeLINK. Lab values can also be graphed for trending purposes.
Value to providers: No longer a need to call other facilities or provider officers to find patient results. This is extremely helpful when a doctor sees a patient for the first time, if the patient has seen a specialist who was not copied on the result, and in an emergency situation.
 
Electronic Results Delivery
Interfaces between HEALTHeLINK and EMR systems for the electronic flow of medical records, which include laboratory data, radiology reports and transcribed reports, between treating providers. Results are routed from various data sources through HEALTHeLINK and out to the EMR vendors. In turn, these results are then transported to the practices and in many instances directly into the patient chart.
Value to providers: Assists the practice to comply with new federal requirements regarding electronic records and quality improvement. Results delivered electronically also eliminate the need for paper, scanning and faxing, therefore reducing administrative costs for the practice.
 
Medication History Query
Query and review your patients’ medication fill history including drug, dose, form, strength and pharmacy.
Value to providers: Aids the provider during medication reconciliation and helps to prevent adverse drug interaction and overdose.
 
Web-based ‘EMR-Lite’
Practice ordered results, including lab results, radiology reports and transcribed reports, from the data sources connected to HEALTHeLINK, are delivered in real time to a feature similar to that of an email inbox. The result can be viewed on the screen and then saved electronically and filed by patient name for later use.
Value to providers: Those without an EMR system are able to take advantage of electronic results delivery and turn off incoming faxes. Results can be printed and saved in the paper chart if desired. Results can be printed and saved in the paper chart if desired.
 
PHR (Personal Health Record)
“MyHealtheLink” patient portal enables physicians to forward results data to their patients’ personal health record. It’s an option for patients to capture and control their own medical records from multiple data sources with only one connection – HEALTHeLINK.
Value to providers/patients: Providing data via Microsoft HealthVault’s online PHR will improve patients’ comprehension of their care and often increase their adherence to treatment plans.
Requirements: Must have a Microsoft HealthVault PHR account.
 
Digital Image Exchange
Provides authorized users of HEALTHeLINK with access to diagnostic quality radiology images from multiple picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
Value to providers/patients: Simple, secure access to images from any PACS connected to HEALTHeLINK. No more lost images, films or CDs. Patients receive the most effective and efficient care because their immediate access to radiology images, as well as radiology reports. It also improves patient safety by helping eliminate radiation exposure associated with duplicate exams.
 
Telemonitoring
View telemonitoring data through the HEALTHeLINK Virtual Health Record (VHR) functionality and within a providers’ own EMR.
Value to providers: The telemonitoring pilot project was designed and implemented to have minimal impact for the providers and maximum impact for the patient. This pilot will significantly reduce the providers’ time and amount of paperwork that would be required if the patient was sent to the emergency room or if the provider scheduled an office visit because the data required to make a knowledgeable decision was not available.
 
Emergency Medical Services Reports
Physicians are able to view and forward EMS reports from EMTs, providing doctors the information that was collected from treatment of patients while in the care of the EMTs. A second component of the application is providing EMTs and emergency room doctors the vital information to treat the patient during an emergency through a VHR consent driven function.
Value to providers: The EMS gateway would provide EMTs and ER doctors access to a patient’s medical history allowing quicker treatment and a more comprehensive picture of the patient’s health background. Currently emergency services lack the medical data to treat patients due to the urgency and lack of access to medical records from other doctors.
 
Patient Referral Exchange (CCD)
Send clinical information from one practice to another to provide a complete clinical summary of a patient being referred at the time of the referral. The information is extracted directly from the automated patient chart and is discrete data that may be placed directly into a new patient chart or to update an existing chart.
Value to providers: Completely eliminates the need to request, fax and scan patient records. The information exchanged is available to enter directly into a patient’s chart and notes the information source. This information is also available prior to the patient being seen.
Requirements: EMR vendor must been certified and fully tested within HEALTHeLINK prior to use. Call HEALTHeLINK or your EMR vendor to determine readiness to take advantage of this service.
 
Data Source Connectivity
Lab results, radiology reports and dictated reports from data sources such as hospitals, independent labs, radiology centers, long term care facilities and home health agencies are available online from HEALTHeLINK.
Value to providers/patients: Giving providers immediate access to labs, radiology results and transcribed reports improves office efficiency and facilitates coordination of care, resulting in improved clinical outcomes for patients.
Requirements: Data source must be able to support HL7 v2 messaging outbound and establish a secure VPN connection.
