SPECTRUM RADIOLOGY ASSOCIATES BEGINS PROVIDING DATA FEEDS TO HEALTHeLINK

Approximately 25,000 radiology reports made available annually to participating physicians through the clinical information exchange

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – HEALTHeLINK announced that Spectrum Radiology Associates has joined its growing list of providers that are increasing the amount of health care data being made available to physicians through Western New York’s clinical information exchange. Approximately 25,000 patient radiology reports from Spectrum will be made available annually through HEALTHeLINK.

“Radiology reports are an important part of a patient’s medical record and medical professionals, with patient consent, will be able to access these reports securely and in a timely manner through HEALTHeLINK to provide more informed care,” said Daniel Porreca, HEALTHeLINK’s executive director.

Located in Williamsville, Spectrum offers a full suite of medical diagnostic imaging services, including a 128 slice scanner for CT and CT Angiography as well as Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Digital Mammography, DXA/Bone Density Studies, Fluoroscopic Studies and general X-ray.

“HEALTHeLINK allows us to work collaboratively with primary care physicians, specialists and emergency department personnel to make the delivery of radiology reports more efficient,” said John Cornell, Administrative Director, Spectrum Radiology Associates. “In addition, physicians will have access to their patients’ complete diagnostic imaging report and may be able to avoid duplicative testing in the future.”

Individual patient radiology reports as well as all other patient health information may only be accessed through HEALTHeLINK by physicians and approved medical staffs who are involved in the patient’s care if the patient signs a consent form. More than 190,000 Western New Yorkers have already given their health care providers better access to the information they need by signing consent forms. Spectrum is a trusted site for collecting patient consents.

HEALTHeLINK also received one of the country’s largest awards as part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services’ Beacon Community Cooperative Agreement Program.
