SOUTHTOWNS RADIOLOGY JOINS HEALTHeLINK

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – Southtowns Radiology has begun supplying data feeds to HEALTHeLINK. Approximately 100,000 radiology reports annually from Southtowns are now available to participating physicians through Western New York’s clinical information exchange. With offices in Hamburg, Orchard Park and West Seneca, Southtowns Radiology is an independent radiology practice, offering a scope of medical imaging services from open MRI to CT scanning and other diagnostic technologies like varicose vein treatments.
“In addition to the radiology departments at the region’s major hospitals, we continue to work with independent radiology practices across Western New York as the volume of radiology reports that can be shared among health care providers is important for the overall vision and usage of HEALTHeLINK,” said Dan Porreca, HEALTHeLINK’s executive director. “Radiology reports are a critical diagnostic tool and we are pleased to welcome Southtowns Radiology, our third independent practice to join HEALTHeLINK in the last year.”
“By partnering with HEALTHeLINK, medical professionals are able to receive their patients’ radiology results securely and more efficiently, allowing for better informed decisions and treatment at the point of care,” said Mary L. Turkiewicz, M.D., president, Southtowns Radiology. “With their patients’ most current data at their fingertips, physicians may also be able to reduce the need for additional or duplicative testing, thus controlling health care costs and lessening potential radiation exposure.”
Individual patient radiology reports as well as all other patient health information may only be accessed through HEALTHeLINK by physicians and approved medical staffs who are involved in the patient’s care if the patient signs a consent form. More than 190,000 Western New Yorkers have already given their health care providers better access to the information they need by signing consent forms. Southtowns is a trusted site for collecting patient consents.
