OLEAN HEALTH CARE PRACTICES JOIN HEALTHeLINK

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – HEALTHeLINK, a collaborative effort among various health care organizations in Western New York for health care providers to share medical and clinical information through a secure electronic information exchange, continues to grow with the addition of two Olean-based health care practices. Munir A. Salimi, MD, who practices in pulmonary and internal medicine and Safi Malik, MD, a vascular surgeon, are now participants in Western New York’s clinical information exchange. With patient consent, the physicians now have immediate and secure access to patient data, including lab and radiology reports, prescription histories, transcribed reports and more.
“HEALTHeLINK is about saving lives and saving money,” Daniel Porreca, executive director of HEALTHeLINK said. “The more physicians and health care practices that participate in the clinical information exchange, the more we can enhance the quality of health care in Western New York. HEALTHeLINK can assist treating physicians in immediately obtaining patient health information that can be critical in decisions they make for a patient’s care, especially in a life or death situation.”
