HEALTHeLINK CONTINUES TO ADD DATA SOURCES

Radiology reports from Buffalo MRI now available to participating physicians through the clinical information exchange

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – Physicians in Western New York will now have faster and more secure access to the test results and radiological studies for patients in their care that are produced by Buffalo MRI. The more than 25,000 radiology results obtained by Buffalo MRI each year are now available via HEALTHeLINK, Western New York’s clinical information exchange, as the practice becomes the latest provider to participate in the initiative.
“With more radiology reports immediately available through Western New York’s clinical information exchange, the more informed and better care participating physicians can provide,” said Daniel Porreca, HEALTHeLINK’s executive director. “In addition to data sources and physicians joining HEALTHeLINK, it’s also very important for patients to sign their consent forms to give treating physicians access to these reports.”
Individual patient radiology reports as well as all other patient health information may only be accessed through HEALTHeLINK by physicians and approved medical staffs who are involved in the patient’s care if the patient signs a consent form. More than 250,000 Western New Yorkers have already given their health care providers better access to the information they need by signing consent forms. Buffalo MRI is a trusted site for collecting patient consents.

Located in Amherst’s Snyder Place Plaza, Buffalo MRI offers advanced MRI imaging, CT, ultrasound, X-ray, fluoroscopy, mammography and bone density services.
“HEALTHeLINK makes it fast, safe and secure for us to submit the results of a patient’s imaging report directly to the physician who ordered the test,” said Kevin Burns, Chief Operating Officer, Buffalo MRI. “With this instant access, a treating physician, with patient consent, will also be able to review previous imaging results to evaluate any changes that may have taken place over time.”
