CARDIOLOGY GROUP OF WNY JOINS HEALTHeLINK TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF PATIENT CARE

BUFFALO, NY- More than 370 physician practices and counting are now utilizing HEALTHeLINK, Western New York’s clinical information exchange, to improve the quality of patient care through better access to clinical information. Orchard Park’s Cardiology Group of Western New York, P.C., were among those practices that recently joined HEALTHeLINK.
HEALTHeLINK is a collaborative effort among various health care organizations in Western New York for providers to share medical and clinical information, such as lab results, radiology tests, prescription histories, and more through a safe and secure electronic information exchange.
“By utilizing health information technology, we are helping health care providers to improve the quality of care and reduce costs through the elimination of duplicate tests,” said Daniel Porreca, executive director, HEALTHeLINK. “With secure access to their patients’ medical records, providers are able to obtain the information they need in order to make the best decisions for their patients immediately at the point of care.”
Patients allow physicians who are treating them to access their health information by signing a consent form, which can be obtained at their physician’s office or by downloading from HEALTHeLINK’s website, www.wnyhealthelink.com. Nearly 400,000 Western New Yorkers have already given their health care providers better access to the information they need by giving their consent.
