BROTHERS OF MERCY NURSING AND REHABILITATION CENTER PARTNERS WITH HEALTHeLINK

BUFFALO, NEW YORK – The Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarence will collaborate with HEALTHeLINK, Western New York’s clinical information exchange. With patient consent, doctors and other medical staff involved in the treatment of a patient will be able to access medical history and lab and radiology test results.

“The more health care providers and physicians who are participating in the exchange, the better they will be able to treat their patients by utilizing HEALTHeLINK to obtain patient health information that can be critical for decisions relative to patient treatment – especially in a life or death situation,” said Daniel Porreca, executive director of HEALTHeLINK. “Whether the patient is an older adult or someone undergoing rehab treatment, it’s important for that patient’s treating physicians to have access to the latest test results and prescription history. We look forward to partnering with Brothers of Mercy.”
Brothers of Mercy is also participating in HEALTHeLINK’s Beacon Project. Funded by a $16.1 million award from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, HEALTHeLINK and the WNY Beacon Project is reaching out to the community using health information technology to enhance diabetes care management across all levels of care.
“Our association with HEALTHeLINK is another step the Brothers of Mercy community has taken to ensure that our residents receive quality care, by enabling our professionals to be in immediate contact with experts and appropriate institutions,” said Valerie Kane, Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Administrator. “Our focus has always been on each individual’s specific needs. The collaboration with HEALTHeLINK expands our ability to access information that can help us personalize our care even more.”
